Geneviève Lévesque, soprano

Heralded for her ‘powerful, warm and grand beauty tone’, mezzo-soprano Geneviève Lévesque is one of the most promising young artists of her generation as much in America as in Europe. 

Geneviève  ranked finalist among several renowned Voice Competitions: Jacqueline Desmarais Foundation for Young Canadian Opera Singer, Concours International de Chant Clermont-Ferrand in France, Prix d’Europe, XI Czech and Slovak International Singing Competition in Montreal and Meistersinger Competition in Austria. In addition, she won the Canada Music Competition and is a laureate of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques 2014. She was a semi-finalist in the Canada Music Competition’s Stepping Stone. She has been awarded a McGill Graduate Studies Fellowship, an AIMS Scholarship (Austria), an Austrian Society Scholarship and has earned grants from the Fonds Québecois de la Recherche sur la Société et la Culture (FQRSC), the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec. 

On the concert stage, Geneviève is also highly active. Among other engagements, she performed Mahler’s Song of the Earth under the baton of Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Zwei gesänge Op. 91 by Brahms. Last Spring, she sang the alto part in the Grand-Messe by B. Fecteau and G. Vigneault with the Choeur de la Place Bourget in Joliette. I

Geneviève Lévesque holds a Doctorate Degree, ‘D.Mus. Voice Performance’, from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
