Alexandre Lavoie, bansuri

Alexandre has been playing music for over 20 years. He started playing piano at age 16 and flute at 17. He completed studies in classical piano and jazz flute at the Cégep Marie-Victorin and obtained a bachelor’s degree in pop/jazz flute. Later, he also finished his master in Indian music at UQAM. In 2010, he studied classical Indian music with Catherine Potter and Steve Gorn. He had the opportunity to study with Indian masters from the Patiala (Punjab, India) dynasty, Pandit Sumdutt Battu. Recently, Alexandre entered the world of modern ethnic flute fabrication. He received a prize from the CALQ for his Indian and Irish flutes.
