Élise Lavoie, violin

Born in Rimouski, Élise Lavoie began the study of the violin at the age of four. After  early studies with Pierre Montgrain at the Conservatoire in Rimouski, she moved to Montréal, where she obtained the «Prix du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal» as a member of the class of Sonia Jelinkova. Subsequent studies followed, in Paris and in Toronto.

During her years in Montréal, Élise Lavoie was a member of the Quartet Bozzini and could be heard frequently on Radio-Canada. Also active as an orchestral musician, she has often participated in concerts of Les Violons du Roy, l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec, l’Orchestre Métropolitan and La Piéta, among others.

Since her return to the Lower Saint-Lawrence, she has become a much appreciated player in the dynamic cultural scene of the region. First violinist of the Quatuor Saint-Germain, Élise Lavoie is also Assistant concertmaster of l’Orchestre symphonique de l’Estuaire. She occupies the post of professor of violin at the Conservatoire de musique de Rimouski.  She is co-founder and co-Artistic Director of the prize-winning summer chamber music festival Concerts aux Îles du Bic.
