Jonathan Huard, percussion

Literature, new music, post-hardcore and silence are domains of expression that influence Jonathan’s approach. Through collaborations with creators and artists from all areas such as the GGRIL (Grand Groupe Régional d’Improvisation Libérée), Véronique Lacroix, Ryan Scott, So Percussion, Ingrid Laubrock or Malcolm Goldstein, he hopes to promote improvised, contemporary and new music. His studies in Conservatoire de Musique de Rimouski sparked a great interest for today’s musics, as well as providing the necessary skills to attain his goals. The reception of two first prizes at Canadian Music Competition, of the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal, of Governor General’s Academic Medal and of many awards for excellence in Conservatoire de Rimouski, as well as his participation within the National Youth Orchestra of Canada are testimony to his quality as a musician and to his rigour. He is now taking part in a diversity of projects and musical encounters that nourish his experience. He seeks to immerse himself into new sound environments; to question and innovate.
